"America only has three cities: New York, Portland by bike, and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland." Tennessee Williams if he had experienced a Pedalpalooza ride. Let's listen to brass bands, traditional jazz, funk, Mardi Gras Indian, and Bounce music while riding bikes through NE Portland, make a pitstop for snowballs & New Orleans cocktails. We'll proceed onto Honk!, a brass band street festival just off NE Alberta. This event is kid-friendly. Itinerary: Gather at Irving City Park at 12:00 for a 12:30 departure We'll head up to Hana's Snowballs on NE Ainsworth, just east of the intersection with MLK. During this pitstop, I'll pour interested adults their choice of a French 75 or Vieux Carre cocktail. Please bring your own glass to reduce waste. Once the group has properly had their fill of snowballs and drinks, we'll head to Honk! so we can "get out there and support some live, local music." Honk! features 11 PNW brass bands. It's a good time, there's a watermelon eating/smashing contest of sorts. If planning on attending, an RSVP to ReedButerbaugh@gmail.com, subject line New Orleans music ride, would be appreciated. Getting my dude Alan at Hana's Snowball an approximate snowball order will help wait times and the vibe/flow of the ride immensely.
